Building a New Computer

I like having the ability to use more than 4gb memory and it's faster in games and benchmarks for the 64. I've never encountered any difficulties with 32bit games or programs as the 64 can run them in "xp mode"

Also, if you buy the 64 version it comes with both the 32bit and 64bit disk so you get two for one. If you don't want to run the 64 at least you've got it if you ever change your mind.

Actually, the reason I was really debating was becasue I found out last week my college has this promotion that they are giving away Window 7 (not really giving away, but it was included in tuition) ant you can get 64 or 32, and keep it once you graduate. Since I already have 32 on this laptop, I thought I might get the free copy from my college and save money on the OS. (=
Just wanted to know what to get. So I'll get 64. And if I don't like it they can exchange it back for a 32.

Thats the one Sixer suggested.

Win 7 keys work for both 32-bit & 64-bit versions. Professional (or Ultimate) 64-bit is the version to get.

Don't cheap on power supplies. If nothing else, grab a Corsair CX430 or something. Far superior to that Sunbeam POS.

Shit, in that case I'd definitely get the 64 as long it's the Professional version. The home version will not run 32 bit apps in xp mode.

Wrong. The Home versions don't come with "XP Mode" and thus can't run 16-bit applications. The Professional versions do come with "XP Mode" which is XP Pro 32-bit in a Virtual Machine. Otherwise, you can run 16-bit and 32-bit applications from a 32-bit OS (like WinXP Pro) and 32-bit and 64-bit applications from a 64-bit OS.

I see Corsair (google search) slightly cheaper than the Mushka thing. but its only 430 Watts as opposed to 650...
Sexy chicks BTW.

Not sure what version it is.
So if it isn't Professional I should get 32.

Link to that Mushka thing? Because it's probably a highly exaggerated rating.

No; get 64-bit regardless.

I'm somewhat confused. You recomended a PSU with less power than the previous. Is the problem here not the amount of power, but the reliability?

If the keys work for both 64 and 32 bit than I can actually give you an ISO for the retail of either disc at a later time. Built them from downloads off digital river, Microsofts store supplier. All they need is a valid key code and of course activation to work.

Yes but if you get a 32 bit disc and do not have the 64 bit disc or vice versa. I didnt miss anything I believe you said something about exchanging it was just adding to the fact that if the serial you get for free is good for both 32 and 64 bit installations then you dont have to worry about making an exchange.

Ah. Very true that. My mistake. p:

So, I just bought the processor, motherboard, memory, and tower.

All that leaves me I think is the HD and the PSU
