Carrol Shelby American Icon dead at 89

The man behind the snake finally decided to move on. Shelby created the Shelby Cobra and did significant development on the Viper as well as winning the 24 hours of LeMans. The man is a true legend in the automotive world and he coined my personal favorite automotive euphamism "there is no substitute for cubic inches". RIP

89 is a good life though

Especially considering medically speaking he should have died in around 1995. He was, is at the moment is the longest person to have lived with a heart transplant.

I don't think he's ever designed something that didn't give me a stiffy. The only time I was ever ashamed of my hero was when he sold his name for the turbo daytona in the 90's which is 180 degrees from his philosophy.

7 years ago and he did not actually have anything to do with it really. I actually liked the design on paper before the big wigs decided it needed changing.

Velocity channel is running a 3 part series (1 hour each) as sort of a tribute to Shelby.
A lot was left out about ferrari and how they changed the rules so ford couldnt run in the championship.
NYF YAIM was one of my favs.
