Computer Problems

It all started when I was trying to boot my computer and the thing would freeze up on the Windows loading screen. The bar would go across the screen and stop. It would just sit there. What I did was do a complete reinstall of
the operating system and it worked. I installed my motherboard drivers and everything was fine. I installed my video card drivers and it failed. It would install and freeze at the part where the computer goes to the black screen with the blinking underdash in the upper left corner. I wasn't frozen though only because the dash would keep blinking. I forced the computer to shutdown and tried to reboot but this time everything went fine except when it got to the Windows logo screen the computer never loaded it. It went to a black screen. I tried booting in safe mode and it just froze after listing all the codes. I reinstalled the OS again and did everything again except with older drivers and nothing worked. I can't even boot in safe mod.

Haven't played in forever due to this shit.

Are you overclocking your PC?

QFE. This is an obvious sign if you are oc'ing. However I would download F@H from another computer and burn it to disc and run it to see if it can complete an entire work packet. (though there are other ways of testing the system).

It might or might not be a sign of overclocking, that's why I asked. This problem also occurs sometimes with faulty drives.

No overclocking done to the computer. BTW this is my first Droid post.

My nest question then would be if youhave any way to do error checking on your HD, or if you notice it spinning up or staying busy when the power is on but it's idle. Also, is it making any new noises, or is it louder when it spins up? 3

I'm assuming it's a traditional HD and not an SSD.

Get a BartPE, it's a boot disk that does have some error checking software for HDD's.

What I would do in your situation:

1. Burn this to CD: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
2. Boot with it and memtest for 3-4 hours. If that is perfectly fine,
3. Use one of the CPU tools to test the CPU for an hour (or find something else like a windows bootable CD with Prime or something).
4. Test the hard drive for errors (full surface test, not just the indexes). There might be a tool for this on the ultimate boot CD, I'm not sure.
5. Reset your bios settings and reconfigure.
6. If everything still checks out perfectly, try installing the OS with a different video card... or check the PSU (with a tester or another PC)...

Beyond that, I don't know... it could also be the motherboard, but that's harder to troubleshoot as it's a big PITA to replace, or anything like that...

Ok so what I did is which out the video card and it seems to be working... I'm going to reinstall the OS again and see what happens.
