My primary intake fan is a 2200 RPM 120mm Yate. Ive pulled a couple of my previous yates apart and from what ive seen these are the good ones.

But my exhaust 120 seems to have spilled its lube and the primary intake is making noise after what 3 months? The exhaust also a 2200 rpm is 95% of the time dialed in around 1,000 and has yet to make any noise. The Intake spends most of its time around 1500 sometimes all the way up and now no matter the speed its making noise.

Great performing fans for the noise level but I need something with a real bearing in the damn thing. What we got?

Spilling your lube is not a good thing..... unless its on soulzzs sister. I wrote a longer detailed post but that fucker got deleted cause of shitty train internet but your problem sounds like the fan blades are causing a vibration during a specific rpm. This can be caused by an imbalance in the blade disc as the blades rotate collectively, it could be either one blade or several. If the blades that when placed ar a given rpm they vibrate out of the design envelope. This can put stress on the bearing (s) that they were not designed for and cause them to leak. Thus making a good bearing act like a bad one only at a specific rpm. Check to make sure there is no obvious distortion on the blade fans as even the most minor crack chip or distortion can cause an inbalance. If the grease is being slung to one side only, the actual leak is occuring 90 degrees prior in the plane of rotation of the fan blades (gyroscopic precession) f that is not the issue there could be a problem with the windings In side the electric motor, which now becomes an issue of a mechanical imbalance rather than an airflow one. Hope this helps

Well sounds about right that the problem with losing lubricant might be during a particular rpm. But as i said the side one is making noise at all rpms. The side intake is probably prone to vibrations compared to the rear which is on a more rigid surface though i realize the blade assembly can be a separate issue from the mounting issue. Sleeve bearing fans in these speeds are normally only good for 6 months from what ive always been told.

The exhaust fan leaked straight down. Ill see if i can find something compatible to add lubricant to both of them. The stick on the back covers the clip for the spindle should be able to add more from that spot.

I am not 100% familiar with cooling fans. However I know that they are not that expensive of a part, and most likely don't use high end materials. I would venture that they other fan that is consistently making noise at all RPM's needs to be replaced, but if you can live with the noise, go for it. As long is there no significant reduction in cooling, as I cannot foresee seeing how it's a fucking $12 fan, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you want to tinker with it, take the good one and the loud one both out of the housing and run them up. the quiet one that works fine, will obviously serve as the baseline for normal operation of the component, compare the differences and try your best to diagnose the issue. The noise at ALL rpm, could be due to the driveshaft in the fan offsetting hub of the fan, causing it to wobble off center, which would create a lound noise and a distinct vibration that is very noticeable.

That and cheap material. With heat always pouring out of your case and the fans internal its self getting hotter. It will weaken the material and any off balance in the blades. Will start to tear itself apart. I've been looking into fan's and found this one to be the best "Enermax UC MA12 Magma 120mm Twister Bearing Fan". I just wish they made it in a 180mm size. So if you can help me find a good 180mm fan. I would be so happy :) Balls posted a cool site some time ago. Were he get's his water blocks from. They had stuff you just don't find.

You actually have to buy Yate's by the crate so they are parted out between 3 and 6 bucks for the 120's. The Retail version made for Nexus in the 1000 rpm only model is yeah like 15 bucks lol.

I was getting ready to change all the fans to 1500 rpm anyways since cooling has not been an issue and theyre too loud at full speed. That makes the third switch lol. The low speeds were too damn quiet figured i could balance airflow for noise.

Figure I will switch up entirely. Just went with the yates because even the "fakes" (cheap plastic, 80mm motor versions probably still made by the same chinese company...) perform great for noise versus rpm. Wasn't entirely sure of mine until i took one apart it has the right motor in it.
