After the trojan/malware incident last Friday night, I installed Avira on James' computer. IE8 still didn't work, so he took his rig to his computer class at school. They ran CCleaner and removed some things from the registry. Also, they uninstalled IE8 and put IE7 back on, thinking that may have been an issue. IE7 will not connect, but Firefox will.

Last night it would not connect to our servers with the blank PB window as the result. I tried some others and the same result. I tested PBservices and it checked ok, updated it with PBsetup. Didn't work.

Heatsurge and TK suggested uninstall of PB, then PBservice and PBsetup, followed by a restart. Again, no joy.

What was the process for making this work (from previous experience)? Also, any ideas why IE will not work but Firefox will? Soulzz, does Avira have a firewall in it? James says that his computer teacher said yes and it was conflicting with Windows firewall, but I find no setting for a firewall in it, nor a place to make exceptions. Please help in any way you guys can. And, btw, the little turd got about 45 tags in 2 rounds just to show me he could. Maybe an enforced break would make me feel better about myself! Thanks, MacN8r

That, or make sure you didn't install the full version of Avira. That has the Firewall included, and can cause lots of issues if not properly configured.

No, it was the free version. I would hate to reinstall the OS since that would mean reinstalling everything else.

Mac,

If your available, hop on Ventrilo and I'll see what I can figure out.

With todays high capacity pen drives I recommend investing into a 4-8GB. I keep all my downloads, patches, pictures, & programs on my 8GB pen drive. Switching computers and buliding new computers you always have the files you need.

I fixed his IE issue. Just waiting to hear back from him on the PB issue.

That got it done. Thanks so much Soulzz, James is up and runnning, although we need to contact EA about activating NS again. The real shitter is that our Verizon DSL was down from somethime in the early morning until just a bit ago. So ruined my early Thanksgiving plans! Thanks again, you are the greatest.

No problem Mac -- Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Just got back from a 2 hour drive :D.
