Seriously, I'm thinking about building my own pc. I'm a computer programmer and I did some building before.

I want a I7 core with the latest nvidia card.
Which mother board should I take ?
And if you got some advise to tell me that would be appreciate.
Thanks in advance

My advice? Don't buy a 295 series card. I'm running an i7 at 2.85 with 6gb of corsair dom on its own SM profile and I scored near 20k on 3dmark 06. This is also with the processor unclocked manually. (With the RAM profile in action)

I'm also running one of the 285 2GB cards with no issues. I've run SLi a few times in my life and it was more of a pain in the ass to deal with than anything with the game profiles and whatnot. I still remember when loading one of the games that the SLi standard profile decided to render half of the screen. I would say get a 285 or an AMD series card and go for a trade up program if building NOW is necessary for you.

Hey Arturo it look like its comming from the futur! :) I can buy a good box but I need some advice about the mother board. I dlike a mother board which could support an higher core for in the futur.

And Mitten you got me there I dont want a sli to. I just want the best one which it turns over the 2,95 nvidia for now.

Any advice on the mother board ?

I'd wait a couple of months right now.

Two things: more/cheaper motherboards with SATAIII and USB3.0 and Nvidia's new card (Fermi architecture "GF100" codename), both likely to be available by the end of March.

BTW that Maingear Shi(f)t is pretty good, however I don't think you can actually buy one right now - I think they're not in mass production yet, and I'm not sure if they are available retail as the chassis only. Even if they were, my guess for a minimum price is $250.

If you HAVE to build right now, I'd recommend the I5-750, a DFI/Asus/Gigabyte/MSI mobo w/ socket 1156 of your choice, and the GTX 275.

They're not THE best components, but they're really the best "performance while price conscious" components out there right now imo.

I'd recommend picking up the I5-750 either from ebay with the 8% cashback (it works really!) with BING or from microcenter.

yea i'd wait for usb 3 and sata 3...both are pretty awesome and useful updates that you'll just be pissed that you don't have when you could have just waited a little bit
and idk about the gtx 295...feel the like 5870 is a better call, or the 5850
whatever

I agree the Sata and usb are a big jump; currently, the Ati cards are the top dogs for a reasonable price. If you plan on going crossfire / Sli go with the i7; the 920 at microcenter by far is the best bang for your buck at 200 bones. If your going with SSD most certainly wait for the newer boards to come out.

Intel has dropped the price of three of its processors. An updated list of Intel's CPU pricing shows a cheaper Pentium E6500, as well as a price cut for the Pentium E5400 and the Celeron E3300.

The 2.93 GHz Pentium E6500 has dropped 12 percent, from $84 to $74, while the 2.7 GHz E5400 has dropped 14 percent from $74 to $64. The 2.5 GHz has dropped 19 percent, to $43 from $53.

All other prices remain the same.

That will be a pain in this ass like you sad if I build it, and after a month all those brand new part are coming on the market.
If I take this option, do you think I'll be able to play BBC with a 64 bit dual core 2.5 and a video card Nvidia 9800 ?
I'm saying that because even if they say its possible to run it, it is never the same thing in the game.
For a month I think I can. I'll stay as commander maybe ;)

If I were in your position I would not get one now. There are too many new things coming out at the end of the first quarter, notable SATA III, and the new nVidia card. I have my doubts that nVidia's new card will have much on the currently 5870's. AMD/ATi have just been killing nVidia.

amazon, actually preliminary benchmarks show it as being comparable to a 5870 at least. It actually pwnz the 5870 pretty hard (1.5 times on average) in heavy compute situations, such as DX100 tesselation.

There is no doubt nVidia will deliver. However, I'm not sure at what price... if it's like $500 or more, it will make more sense to buy ATI probably...

Yes, but for the same price? If you spend top dollar for your AMD and ATI stuff, that's what you usually get. You spend any more than the ATI is worth and you really aren't getting better ingame performance. Sure, you get an additional fram here and there, but you play like 20-40 bucks a frame in a sense of it. Intel and NVidia usually do better in benchmarks because a large majority of those programs were designed using Intel and NVidia devices (not to mention donations from those companies as well). When I first started building systems, I was AMD all the way back. My latest system was an Intel and I regret it.

I need, or want a new computer, Any ideas? just spit ball it nothing fansy just a good gaming computer. dont really have to much to drop on it money wise.

I have a 8600 gt nvidia graphics and the other shit i would have to look at. im work right now. nothing to do. 2.6 or 2.8 processor. mother board i would have to look up but it was made by gateway. i only paid six hundred for it. money wise i dont know how much ill have when i would be ready to get one. but recommend one and price and ill let you know.

the only reason im thinking of getting a new one is cause of tax return. im going to blow it random shit this year.
