yeah i think i need a new power supply, so heading in town now..

Do you have any error codes..number & length of beeps? Make sure your memory is in the right slots; also, seated good. What is your set-up?

What brand of motherboard do you have? ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, EVGA, XFX?

Put one stick of RAM in the slot closest to the CPU and try booting.

Did you try a different display cable?

I'll be on in about 5 hours.

Silly question, but is your video card inserted into the motherboard and are the cables connected from the Power supply to the video card?

Also, first thing I would check is make sure you don't have a short...

1.remove the motherboard from the case
2.set motherboard on a cardboard box
3. populate (if you removed anything) and power on while the motherboard is resting on the box only.

If you get video signal and it boots up, you've got a short between the MB and your case, most likely a standoff out of place that is touching the back of your MB or a some piece of metal trapped between your MB and the case.

That might not be the problem, but I'd check there first as it's the most likely cause of what you've described.

ok i got it to work.....needed the new power supply info for the new hist is as follows

asus p7h55 m pro motherboard
intel i5-760 processor
2x2 gb ddr3 ram
geforce 8600 gt graphics card.....yes i know older but still runs good...
thermaltake tr2 430w power source.

so like i said everything is running so far, just need to test it out in gaming or an app that can test the settings, also need to get the new drivers but havent a clue when it comes to unnzipping the files...

ok so i tried out some games and everything is running so far, i do know i need to update a shit ton of drivers esecially the one with pertaining to the new gear. whats the easiest way to update all drivers without trying to find out each individual one that needs updating?

There are programs that do that for you, but I don't trust them. I take it you've installed the chipset, USB, SATA, etc. drivers that came with your MB's disc? Once you've done that there shouldn't be a lot of driver updates except maybe the mouse, GPU, keyboard if you use macros, printer, or Sound Card.

Always use the drivers from the manufacturer. I never get drivers from Windows Update neither. I'm with Sixer on those programs that search for and update your drivers. Just don't trust them.
