Well i think my laptop may have bit the big one, still have to pull it apart to check it out. I may be in the market for a new one, preferably geared towards gaming. Something not to expensive. Ive been told Segars is a good one to go with, also Origin. Any input would be appreciated.

Sadly dont have too much time to look today but I normally shop MSI, ASUS and Sager. Remember Sager's do not come with OS and are best bought from resellers. You can often find prebuilt ASUS/MSI models on Bestbuy, Newegg etc, for custom I usually price up Gaming Laptops - XOTIC PC - Gaming Notebooks - Custom Laptops - Custom Notebooks

Not sure if the 6 series are out yet but quick guide for you. 560M is a bit worse than a 550 Ti desktop card, 580M is around a GTX560. The 6990M is a single gpu card dont get confused but Sager will sell you an expensive one that holds 2! 540M would be very minimal, maybe BF3 but more like BC2. Anything less = useless.

Laptop i5's are duals with HT, there ARE a couple high clocked Dual core i7's the rest are lower clocked quads. 1500 is usually the sweet spot in a midrange rig. 750 is usually bargain basement rarely brings anything in but 1000 can touch a decent machine once in awhile.

ORIGIN btw is like Sager they usually build off of Clevo chassis but sometimes Compal and others are used. Just about any of those boutique names you can come up with all build off Clevo laptops and Sager is the company i tend to trust. But the support is much better if you buy through a reseller like Xotic or GenTechPC etc.

Thanks for the info and the link

I have an ASUS with 560m; would rather game with desktop; I don't know how I did it with BF2142; same screen & slow graphics suck. If you could go higher than 560M I would recommend it. Laptops are big$$$$ for hardware. My laptop cost me $1600 for 17". You might be able to go with 15" with more hardware; but, I would add a monitor if I did.

Here's my input, stop wasting money on a laptop for gaming and spend half the cash for a kick ass desktop instead.

I have a Sager from XoticPC. Was very happy with them. Took a while to get it, but it was exactly as long as they estimated so I can't complain there. There are lots of ways to get small discounts, like paying in cash and such or being a student/military. Do the research with them to find the best prices. Look on their forums to for reviews on each model. Mine for instance got great reviews, but lots of people complained about the size of the power brick.
Origin I hear are great, but you have to give up the first born of your entire town to be able to get one..so..
