Because I am super cool I had to create a new thread for this.
Specs:
Amd fx 8350 - OC to 4.2
8 GB of ram Kingston Hyper
ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
2x hard-drives
SSD 240 Samsung (FUCKING FAST)
SSHD - 1 TB (Solid state hybrid drive is also excellent choice over a SATA)
4GB - 770GTX OC- I will OC more to at least 1300 (can do easily and stable)
LSP 750 Watt - tigerdirect in house PSU and worked on my previous one, 3 years and probably more but no longer use that rig.
LG - DVD/CD reader/writer
Case comes with hotswap which is neat.

Going to get aftermarket cooler but this thing is running cool as is. 3 x 200mm fans 1x120mm room for more and it is a full size

Here are the pics, Im not as good as you guys post pics of everything but yeah all done

Nice! great build fast.

That's a nice looking rig, inside and out. I'm glad you're feeling well enough to build it too. Congratulations.

I am doing a ton right now, importing shit from my other pc. Downloading all sorts of apps

BF4 is currently downloading :)

And I know you want my tags, you and balls always had a thing for my tags.

true lol

So um yeah the cpu fan cooler that comes with the AMD cpu is fucking LOUD. I need to swap this asap. I'm like beside an airplane's engine when I am gaming.

Yeah, the stock heatsink/fan for AMD CPUs is kind of lulz.

Get something cheap-ish aftermarket for $30ish... Zalman was the big deal back in the day but maybe not so much anymore. Haven't even clicked on an air cooler review for years.

I have to say windows 8.1 is really not my thing. Probably because I'm so used to win 7. Removing the start button was not necessary.

Hopefully I can get used to this.

Tigerdirect had a h100 for $50 w mir and promo. Corsair.com had a bunch of coolers on sale as well.

Need a good recommendation for aftermarket cooler. I know some of you said corsair one but I'm open to more suggestions.

I was interested in coolermaster evo. It's has good reviews and the price is excellent $20s

Thanks

By the way
For GPU getting 35C idle about 65 (peaks at 70)C when gaming BF4 high settings.

CPU idle temp is 40 about 50-55 when gaming BF4(stock). Not bad i guess but I probably want to overclock slightly more and I can't stand the noise when gaming.

The start button or the menu, the button is there in 8.1. As far as the start screen if you don't care to run a menu replacement I would just arrange some grids of your favorite apps and call it a day. Never bother looking for apps just start typing their name much quicker. Just like in 7 you can pin your every single day apps to the taskbar and those will probably be obvious choices.

Right click on the taskbar and search through the properties some things may be of interest to you such as booting directly to desktop. Win + I for power off and things, or you can right click the start button and the power down options are there as well. Just a couple notes for you.

That is a nice clean build , Gl with the new rig man! Should have nice FPS in BF4 now!

Bf4 runs great at ultra and 1080p

Cpu load is 45-50 not entirely impressed with that given I have the fx-8350 but people just telling me it's fine and i'm stressing about nothing lol

Other than that love my build

The CPU load is only slightly higher than current gen i7's. I would only be worried had you went and made a noob move and bought a lesser AMD which would have been a horrible mistake. People running around advising people to buy "quad core" AMD's over i5's when what they are really getting is an i3 level product. You bought a good CPU and probably the main complaint is the PCI-E 2.0, won't hurt you now and hell even at the end of the machines life when it hurts most you should still be okay.

It doesnt have raw power like Intel but 4.2 GHz and multi- threading should do it for me. Definitely does not beat the I7. I think it does better in other areas though

Fuck I would never even get the 6 core one from AMD. Not worth it.

I haven't checked the benches these days but it really doesn't matter, they are close and in some cases back and forth. Those looking to save a little cash the FX-8350 is 50 USD cheaper than I can pickup the i7-4770K for which in your case you can't get that price your in Canada so even better deal with the AMD still. Those blowing money on the 4.7/5.0Ghz model of Vishera are probably a little nutso. Spending more money than Intel seems a bit off point.

The prinicipals behind Bulldozer and Vishera are the same as hyperthreading. It was executed differently. Sharing front end decoders and FPU's did end up with lower performance over Intel for many tasks. It was however AMD's vision that the world is moving FPU operations off the CPU and onto the GPU. The differences in designs mean the different tasks take sides between Intel and AMD. I would say in Gaming your likely to find no clear winner as if your CPU is that loaded your in fucking trouble no matter what brand your with.

Personally I am hoping the shadow play recording taking a load of my CPU will let this i5 breathe a little longer but it looks like a i7-3770K is in my future to keep the rest of this rig chugging along through the next generation of games. I know you used to like to record and since you also got the 770 thats a load off your CPU as well.
