Car help that is. I have a Weber 45 DCOE carb on my 74 MGB GT. It starts to bog in high speed turns or when I start drifting. Anyone know how I can fix this? 1206016.jpg

@Mac Carb run's great:) I'm having it rebuilt as we speak but I want the carb place to mod it for drifting. It's the G's pulling/pushing the gas. Years ago I read how to fix this but can't find it anymore. Been at it all day.

@Lex LMFAO can we say over kill

Float for sure.

But out of curiosity does it only happen turning one way?

Tuning your DCOE-Style Carburetor

The typical symptom on a book-value Weber conversion is a bog unless you baby the throttle. This is because the mixture leans out when you try to suddenly involve the main jets with insufficient airflow. When you bring airflow up more gently, the progression circuit helps you out, and the air is moving faster when you get to demanding fuel from the main jets.

This shows that fuel volume is insufficent for fast throttle movement. We increase accelerator pump volume / unit time most easily by enlarging the metering hole (this item is as easily accessible as the main and idle jets). Use a pin vise and a set of drills 61-80 to gradually enlarge the metering hole. On the MGB, I started about 77 and ended up at 69. More may be required as I get used to the difference.

Try to reproduce realistic transitions, from realistic RPMs, in all the gears. You may notice as you enlarge at some point the initial response is good, then a short bog before things kick in. This means the duration is too short.

If you see this problem at extremely low RPMs, you may want to re-evaluate your requirements. Do you need to SLAM the throttle from 1400 RPM? In any case, stop enlarging the metering hole if you run across this problem. Going any further will require modification of the drainback hole to provide a bigger fuel supply.

Fucking side draft carbs i swear I dont like them things. Well atleast you had a weber to deal with. Screw them damn little SU's. Wanted to do a weber downdraft conversion but plenty of issues with lack of heat with it so far from the block.

What do you have rain? Look's like a sunbeam tiger?

I wish. 1966 Austin Healey Sprite mk3. Was my last non daily driver project car before the money ran out. Sold it just over a year ago threw the av up last month. Bought with the intention to cut it up but ended up a driving toy. Unrestored but ran good for first 1.5 years then every month it was something. Generator, radiator, gas tank, last thing to go was the clutch line. Had a single res dual piston master so you lose brakes when that happens.

Fun part was i missed my turn when the clutch pedal dropped. Dead end 2 lane road in 4th gear car has less than 50hp. Had todo a 180 and decided not to risk a speed shift though it woulda been easier than what i did. Drove it back home and parked it into a curb. Let it sit for a while and sold it, sold the spare engine in 2011 never shifted the transmission or the rest of the parts.

Original plan was a single turbo rotary retaining the outer body shell and dashboard.

Hell yeah. Gotta love the brit's and there go carts. Fun to drive but 50hp :( My motor is build. Which means it went from 98hp to about 130hp and I have O/D. A turbo rotary would have been great. I wanted to put a 327 out of a vette but my buddy wouldn't let me "borrow" it :( Find me on FB if you would like to see more photos of the restore.

Some of the later thoughts went to sourcing a 1275 and getting the turbo setup off the MG Metro just for some cheap original like power. I was out of money and got tired of it.

This the thought with my current project, but I already spent my money so oh well. Whats funny is I want the V8 swap for the better gas mileage haha this old 4.3 Vortec is very dated.

Want to trade my 4WD blazer out to a 2WD, preferably just buy a clean vin frame and main body off a 95 (for emissions), doors and front panels off a 98+ and do an interior electronics build from a 2001 (most compatible with 99-2009 GM electronics). My current project was fitting all the available options for 99 to my driver which has been the interior fuel economy readout, auto dimming rear view and door mirrors, automatic climate control, factory class 3 hitch reciever etc etc.

Looks like you have a hell of a fun car to drive though Im jealous.

I'm not done but it's getting there. I'm going for a Rat Rod meet's the street tuner look. The older MG guy's wont like it but the younger people are going to love it......I hope ;p

Shit mario what rear are you using if its not stock then I woulda taken the opportunity to change the brakes up a little. Car doesn't need discs I just prefer them even with careful selection might have had to throw a prop valve in to get the brake balance right. If it is stock should handle the power fine, not so sure on all the sideways action though. At least we had IFS and front disc on our cars already.

The trunk on my car would have been non existent with the fuel cell sandwiched between wheel tubs just to put enough meat in for launching the bitch. Still not sure if I was going to have to transplant open arch quarters from a midget or if it was even going to matter (probably would still have the wheels tucked into the body work).

Gas tank looks good but I think I woulda thrown a coat of that bed liner crap on the bottom just to make it dent/puncture resistant. Is the hold down for the diff cover a safety piece or is that stock?

Stock is good up to 180hp. Brakes....what is that ;p and my buddy said the samething about the tank.

Looks like a Lucas distributor, can you start the bitch when its raining? lol. At least its the type with the push on plug wires. Mine passed through the cap and screwed in on the inside, talk about not sealed at all. Was pretty close to swapping it out for a Mallory but didn't want to lose the computerized ignition I had on it.

I think you and me are gonna get along :p
