Hey guys, lately my computer has been running slower than normal. I did a full virus scan about a month ago and found nothing. I have ccleaner that I use regularly and that doesn't seem to help either. I'm at the point now to just reformat the hard drive. I really don't want to do that. Anyone have any ideas on whats causing this? BF3 used to run great on my system before this started and now its laggy as hell and I'm rubber banding way more than ever.

My specs:

I7-920 processor 2.66ghz overclocked to 3.4
Asus P6T MOBO
3 GB DDR3-10600 PC3-1333 (more ram maybe?)
SEAGATE 500GB SATA hard drive
XFX RADEON PCX HD5850 Vid card
ANTEC 750 WATT TRUE BLUE POWER SUPPLY
WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64 BIT.

Nothing wrong with your specs.

How full is your main hardrive?
Any recent graphic drivers changes?
Any recent driver changes in general (doubling up on sound ect?)

If all else fails reformat that baby.

Could use an upgrade here.

Well, I can't remember the last time I've updated my drivers. Lots of room left on my hard drive. I'll check my vid card out to see if there's updated versions. Thanks.

Any other games/programs you recently installed?

That 3 GB of ram is actually kind of bad news. I mean on a clean install of windows and just BF3 you would probably be right at 3 GB of ram usage. I am at 4 to 5 myself but a ton of crap installed hard to say whats using what on mine.

Dunno what triple channel kits run for these days you weirdos and your 6GB of ram :p but in normal town a single 8GB stick goes for around 35 bucks now making 2x8GB kits cheaper than my 4x4GB.

I figured it was time. Funds are tight and would probable have to wait til tax returns for major upgrades..Vid card and memory are for sure..I don't have much on my hard drive.

Specs are fine.

Disconnect it from the power, open the case and make sure all your fans and intakes/outflows are free of quilts.

While you're in there check that all you power connectors are plugged in properly and everything is well seated.

Do a hard reboot of your cable modem/router.

Scan with malware bytes and a root kit scan.

Run memtest to check for failing ram.

Try new video drivers, and do a full clean install. Although rubber banding is network related.

Failing all of that, a reinstall of Windows is in order. That's what I had to do, turns out I corrupted my registry beyond repair....

Good luck.

Yeah, it worked fine in the beginning but am wondering if I should uninstall a bunch of games I don't play anymore.

I'll try that. Thanks tart.

If you need some DDR3, I've got 2 sets of DDR3 1600 6gb sitting here, we could work something out cheap! Let me know, it would double your RAM and free up some memory for your system.

I'll get back to you on that one. If the wife allows me to, I'll definitley be interested.

@wolfz. Last game I installed was red orchestra 2. That was when it was released a year ago or so. I should just uninstall that one..lol. Only played it once and never touched it again.

Games installed really wont affect anything but hard drive space unless that game has some service thats running 24/7. Need to be more concerned with software thats running in the background all of the time.

Ive had older games screw with my direct X, and some actually adjust graphics settings , thought it could be along those lines.

Wont have anything to do with it then, yea uninstall crap your not using :D

Also, don't forget to check your Task Manager to see what's running in the background and how much of your resources are being eaten up. When I had a problem I fixed today that's how I found out about it and what a resource hog it was being.

my biggest problem with mine lagging out was fucking iTunes runnning in the backround so i took it off mine and installed it on the wifes.... suck to be her now her pos laptop can be even slower lol
