Well since so many of you (*glares at fast, meat, and renno) have been bitching about my microphone sounding like shit, I decided its time to get another one.

I'm lookin for something that is comfortable, has awesome bass with a good full sound for primarily gaming, secondary movies and such. It has to be good at being able to accurately find targets in FPS games by sound. Music isnt a huge issue. I'm not an audiophile so I won't notice the little things. Also would prefer it to have a connection that allows you to switch between usb(included soundcard) and the normal soundcard audio jack.

The research I've done so far just shows me people are all over the board on some of these headsets. Lots of completely opposing reviews. I've been mainly looking at Sennheisers, plantronics, logitech, steel series, and even turtle beach.

Oh and i guess id be willing to spend $130 if theyre epic, but would like to keep it around 80 if the headset is a good all around value.

Word! What he said. ANYTHING would be infinitely better than whatever the fuck you are using right now. You could stick your ugly head out of your FAG new york front door and yell all the way down to North Carolina and it would be better than what you are using right now. You could drive down to Georgia and shove your head up Sixer's as and transmit with the cheapest logitech headset on the market while engaging in man on donkey sex and that would be better than what you are using right now.

Go jump out of a plane, jackass:-p

This is what I have now. I'm pretty sure the issue with mine is the drivers. Razer doesnt seem to design 64 bit drivers very well.

Newegg.com - RAZER Megalodon Gold-plated USB Connector Circumaural 7.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset

Edit: Currently looking at this set...expensive but its getting great overall reviews

The one just below that one isnt USB. Mine has this 7.1 surround sound driver that if its not workin right, its fucked.

Sennheiser.
See, all I hear when somebody says that is overpriced junk. Unless it's gonna swallow my junk every night I'm not paying $200+ for a headset. Look at me, I'm a German techno-snotb! Ugh.

Edit: I'd prefer to invest in a better sound card first before dropping too much on a headset.

I paid 120 bucks for mine and it's lasted 4 years so far. I'd like to see another brand match that (besides Plantronics).

I had a piece of shit Logitech one for 5 years zero problems $49.00. HEll, I still have them as a back up pair. My point was not just the price, but I haven't seen anything they sell that is better or technilogically superior to any other brand for the price they charge.

Besides, I know Pilot's died on him shortly after he bought the famed sennheiser-and how long was he without a mic while waiting for an RMA?

Meh, I've never had issues with any Sennheiser I've purchased. :).

i have the pc350 i love it and consider it to be a better upgrade than another gfx card. that said it does not do usb, and i broke the mic on mine by tripping on the cord while it was plugged in. they are fairly durable and sound absolutely great

Sure, sure. You're just thinking of the hot, geeky German engineers in their lederhosen getting ready to give you a spanking every time you put on your Sennheiser. Ja! Ja das pervers mein nutte.

sry to hijack, but what is a good sound card to use? im rolling an onboard intel card.

I've decided on those sennheiser pc350's. Finding a couple pairs on ebay for pretty cheap(80 bucks)

Agh! You bastards! Okay, I tried the sennheiser pc350s in addition to reading numerous reviews and since I want a new headset I'm getting these. Damn you all!
