Yeah, these need the 1155 socket-like that one pin for the 1156 motherboards that currently exist makes all the difference...fuckwads. Anyway, to answer your question you need the an H or P67 motherboard.

Damn. Now's a good time to upgrade for a lot of people. The price vs. performance for these CPU's and motherboards is unbeatable. I just saw MBs for these cpus from $94.00 -$259 at Newegg. Here's a nice one for $159

Don't sweat it Supra. These replace the P series of motherboards, not the X series. It wouldn't give you any bump over what you have now. If people are able to OC the top chip to 4.6ghz they have something very comparable to what you have, performance wise, now. No biggie. I'm keeping my X58 series until they replace it with the next generation which won't be until the end of the year or later from what I've read.

Ivy Bridge. It's the "tock" (22nm die shrink + other goodies) to Sandy Bridge. Gaming-wise, I'd stick with any decent i-series cpu and a kick ass video card, and wait for Haswell, Intel's 16 nm next generation architecture. Hard not to recommend the 2600k if shopping though.
