So, my brother needed some new (to him) components so I made the huge sacrifice and upgraded my PC.

Now running a Ivy Bridge i5 3570k @ 4.0GHZ with new Asus MOBO and a Corsair H80i watercooler kit thingy.
Also, I now have my two 7950's in crossfire and they work great. I average from 90 FPS to 130 FPS in BF3 on High. I think with some overlocking I can improve that.

So some questions.

1. My 7950's are on stock air and idle at 40C, high temps get to about 69. Not too bad?

2. My CPU is now idling at around 50c with the two corsair fans running at about 1900 RPM....this seems way to hot for idle. Its about 23C in my house right now.
Should I try reapplying new thermal paste (I used the stock stuff on the the corsair....) or wait and see what happens?

1. 40C is really good
2. 50C is a little hot for idle you might want to try re-seating your CPU cooler

I have a Haswell build with the 80i kit and the cpu idles at 28 degrees and never reaches 40 in game. So two questions: what case do you have (and fans) and how did you mount the 80i? Stock paste, fan placement, etc. Also throw up some pics. BTW, the xfire config will heat up everything else, but it shouldn't be that warm.

Sorry about not getting the pics. I was working on my brothers machine the rest of the day.

You have to edit your "rights" to the photos on Flikr before they can be linked. Edit: Nice looking build though. I see you're rocking the OCZ PSU. How is that, is it quiet?

Does clicking on the link to the photo work?

Yeah, the OCZ seems to work great and hasn't had an issue. Rest of the fans and such are way louder. Hopefully I can find my thermal paste and get the CPU/cooler re-seated sooner than later.

Does anyone think that me fliping the fan/radiator around would make any impact on the cooling?

No link shows. I only saw it because I used Firefox's "inspect element' option. You should have both of those fans blowing out the back of the case. If not they're just fighting each other. I don't think you'd see any difference in temp in flipping the rad though. Your best bet is to check the thermal paste, clean it off, reapply, and then reseat the cooler on the cpu.

Yikes 50c for idle. My AMD processor doesn't even get to that temp with load.

I've got both pulling cool air in and then hot air out the top. I've read that those coolers work best pulling air in. could be wrong though.

I have seen those arguments, and the problem is it can seriously affect the airflow in the case. Still need to see the case, but running two cards the temps in the case will be high, so keeping good flow throughout the case could make quite a difference. Like I said, same cooler, Haswell build, HAF 932 case and I idle in the mid 20's with an ambient room temp of about 70F

Apologies for the picture issues guys. Flickr isn't playing nice.

Here we go!

Also, there is a intake fan on the side of the case. The fan in the top is pulling air out. There are two intake fans in the front, and an intake fan next to the PSU in the middle.

Edit: Re-seated the cooler with some arctic silver mx-2 I had and it dropped the temps at idle by about 3 degrees. I haven't tried changing the heatsink fans around to push out instead of in yet.

I would say reverse it and get the air out; you have way more air pushing in than heading out so your fans might be fighting each other. You have six fans pushing in and one out (counting the two on the cooler). Also, did you install the Corsair software for the cooler?

I'll try switching when I get home.

Yeah got the software installed and running. Fans are at about 1800 rpms.

Thanks Maple!

Ok, so I switched the fans around and now I am getting the following temps:
36-39C at idle
60-65 C while playing BF3 on High settings
70-85C with 20 passes of linx/intel burn test.

I feel like these temps are still pretty high compared to what it should be. I think my i2600k never went much above 55 while gaming and idle was typically in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Well ivy bridge on it's own gets hot... intel went a different route than their sandy bridge series, they didnt use solder like they did, instead ivy bridge has glue on the IHS and a TIM between the die and the IHS. That's a main reason why delidding has become such a big thing for ivy bridge, most people can seem to stem aroud 10-20C off their temps across the board on load...
Your temps don't look to beast though, 85C is alittle on teh high side, but manageable...
I get around 35C idle and 75-80C on prime95 for about 8 hours, but my i7 is @ 4.5GHz with 1.28v... I've yet to muster up the energy to remove my heatsink and clean the TIM to delid, lol...
