Puerto Rico - Yay or Nay?

So, most of you heard that obama won, that's all well, but some of you might have scrolled down and seen that there was more voting going on... more specifically in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Ricans have voted FOR being the 51st U.S. state, which is now for confirmation by the congress.

What's your stance on it? yay or nay?

I say yay because less motherfuckers will die to diarrhea in mexico then.
 
No. I like the flag just the way it is. I don't want the song's changed. Nothing. PR is fine just the way it is. There role to the USA will not change much to make a difference and our role to them. Will pretty much be the same.

The one flag looks pretty much the same. Here are the proposals. The one on the right is the one the proponents of statehood in PR use. The one on the left is much more likely:

I dont see a problem with it, they have been a territory for a long while now.
 
Absolutely not. They have voted down statehood for decades now, what changed? We should have walked away from PR years ago, they bring nothing to the table for America except burden and we already have 20 or so burden states.
 
I was looking at some of the stats on this place; our worst poverty state was Mississippi at 22% PR has double that...wow. Unemployment +15%; sounds like a real winner. It's nice to find out in some reading the 28 Billion went to that shit hole for Obama's economic recovery. The government might as well pilled that money up and burned it.

Apparently the laws on statehood :p Used to be a township of 25 people could apply for statehood why we only have 50 states is beyond me haha.

Look if the United States wants control a territory out of war time then it should have to take care of it like it does any other territory. I mean we gave them citizenship.

We somehow find it right to govern the territory and give them 0 say in that governing. Get rid of it or finish the deal. If you don't want to be responsible for it don't keep it. Mind as well enforce tax on them now and call our selves England, sorry Rails, Rycelow and the rest of you bastards.

I guess I finally have proven I have a political opinion, even if it is both for and against lol.
 
Puerto Rico is in complete control of it's own governance. We literally have no upside having Puerto Rico as a territory much less making it a State.
 
If they become a state. People from the north will buy up PR's land and slowly push there poor to the main land. Flooding the states as if the Mexican boarder was open. I'm sure there will be some kind of war over this. With in PR. I have family there and would hate for something bad to happen to them over this.
 
Puerto Rico is weird with their emmigration/immigration. They kind of do a loop, heading out to the US and eventually coming back to PR. They are also a really small population at under 4 million people. Honestly I think there are already more Puerto Ricans in the US than there are in Puerto Rico. Still, the answer is no way Jose.

By the way, the next step from right now this very second is for the US congress to decide whether or not to accept PR as a state, so if you have a strong opinion on it one way or another you should be reaching out to your Congressmen and Senators to let them know. The President has already said he'd love another 4 million Democrat votes.
