i just got my 900D and i put everything into my other case. When i tried to start it up a red led light went on by the 24 pin then it turned off. It blue screens after it says welcome to windows. do i need a mono or do i need to get a new cpu and motherboard? or just one of the two?

What make motherboard? My ASUS has lights by each major component which turn on and if no problem go off. If a light stays on it usually indicates the area of problem. Now the 24 pin connector is not normally what the light would be for. You can often find text next to the light.

If you can boot into safe mode and it doesnt BSOD then I would start looking at possible driver issues, check the GPU as well if you have integrated test etc. Leave no stone unturned.

the z77 saberooth with armor

Pulling the manual now to see what the light is for out of curiosity.

Last time I had a fried GPU it worked fine until the moment 3d libraries kicked in which the first thing to do that is Windows Aero upon desktop load. It would BSOD moments after loading windows. But it could be alot of things. Always suspect the easiest things to fix first.

The LED just above the 24 pin connector next to the MEMOK button is the DRAM LED. Now if it turns off before windows loads this should be normal. However any other behavior would point to ram.

No cause if that was the case, it wouldn't have made it that far, it's more than likely an issue with your RAM, have you tried using just one stick, maybe switching between the two, it might be a bad stick. I know the only time my light comes on and stays on is if I totally fucked up the overclock on my RAM and it has an a issue. Try flashing the bios from a USB port and clearing the CMOS

I had this problem on my last Asus Rampage III board; your board is perfectly fine. Grab a Power Supply tester and check your 24pin cable; You might also want to try to reseat your cable..possible loose cable. If you have another Power Supply I would try that too.

Also, starting from the beginning of the RAM issue, is it seated properly. I know lots of folks who are too gentle with their components and shit doesn't get seated correctly. Frequently happens after upgrades.

Also try booting with just 1 stick of memory. Sounds like you could have a memory issue. Rotate the sticks out trying 1 stick each in the first slot. Then try again in the second slot. If you get the same issue, then its not the memory itself - UNLESS the timings/speed is not set correctly in the bios.

Could that b it? The thing is that it flashes blue after it goes through a forth of the welcome yo windows part

Have you touched your CPU overclock? Often, if I have a speed set with not enough voltage, it will cause a BSOD at Windows startup.

My motherboard (EVGA Z77 FTW) has a debug display with a two-digit error code readout if something goes wrong. I don't see it on your board, but I could be wrong. Also, your manual should tell you what to look for in case of a failure.

Have you tried a different installation of Windows? One of my recent automatic updates broke my installation and I had to boot into Safe Mode and roll back.
