I have a 128G SSD as system disk.
Lately as I use my PC for work & development, I had to install bunch of shit and unfortunatly, lot of them has to sit in c: (Thanks to MS).
To avoid the trouble of tuning/moving, I just bought a second SSD 240G.
And I want to transfer my system to the new SSD without installing the whole shit....

From my internet search, I can see 3 options.
I want to know if somebody already did that or if you have any advise...

Option1 Use Partition copy
How to Migrate to a Solid-State Drive Without Reinstalling Windows

- Just migrate the partition to the new SSD using partition tool
- realign the partition for SSD (not sure I have to that since, I move from SSD to SSD)
- not sure how new SSD becomes C..... DISKPART probably

Option 2 ImageX
hard drive - Easiest way to move my Windows installation to an SSD? - Super User
- Capture C: image
- Install it in SSD
- switch c: to new SSD

Option 3 backup
- create a backup of C:
- disconect C:
- reboot using repair disc and restore c: on the new SSD
- expand the partition

Thanks for the advice....

I've done option 3 before but not with an SSD. works well.

Option 2 or 3 are the only way to go unless you want to start all over, which has some advantages and disadvantages.

I use the Paragon hard disk manager-$50. But,if you're not familiar with migrating, partitions, cloning, etc. this is probably not for you. Acronis is more user friendly for newbies.

I used to use Paragon, lost my OS tried to use back-up...No Deal; I can vouch for Acronis, made back-ups and installed on blank drives.

You might be able to boot with linux bootable CD (something like ultimatebootcd.com ) or ubcd4win.com , then copy your files over, with or without partition tools (gparted?) and it should just work maybe :-D ...
