Everything was great in BF4 no issues on the setting I had. Win 10 wanted to do an update so I restarted and in game BF4 performance went terrible.

i7-6700 @ 4.7ghz
GTX 970
16GB 3200mhz ram
512 GB SSD Samsung 850 PRO

When I first got the GTX 970 I had the same thing with different equipment. In game was 30-50 FPS I went to Nvidia Geforce Experience and told it to optimize the game. Went back into BF4 and dialed the settings down from ultra and turned the crap off that didn't need to be on and thats when my FPS shot back up to expected.

So FFW to this update, same thing happened I followed the same 'fix' I did before but it's not working. I did a fresh install of the latest Nvidia drivers again and repeated the steps still no good. I went in game and changed setting but now I'm at a place where it spikes to 90 ish FPS but drops back down again to 30-50.

I have MSI afterburner on with a ever so mild overclock and put all that to default etc.

Restarted PC lots of time but I'm at a loss, maybe there is a setting I'm missing? Any ideas?
Thanks

I tried a prior Nvidia GPU driver but it was still shitty. Just did a system restore trying that now.

Nope still 40fps even when everything is on low and extra's off....

Tried borderless no luck

I also just swapped my GTX 970 with a different model one in my wifes PC and still 40fps and then tried borderless on top of that.

I give up

Take a screen shot (PerfOverlay.DrawGraph 1) of this graph in-game.

Sorry to hear that it didn't work. I can be of no practical help because I'm running Windows 7 on a gtx 580, so I was just passing on what I uncovered on the web. (Yes, I'm on the cutting edge of December 2011.)

Good luck, hope you get it sorted or they fix it with a patch, sounds terribly frustrating.

I just cleared Origin Cache, going to game and I'll check the graph, thanks!

I played about with the borderless again and I think I fixed it. (remember I hadn't changed anything just patched win 10 thats all)
The shadowplay FPS on top right changed quite a bit when I was going from full screen to borderless to windowed

Edit and yes @Ghstops6 stabbed me when testing...

Nvidia Geforce Experience is like Cancer. Don't use it to tune your system.
The only settings I use in Nvidia control panel are Single Display and Maximum Performance, all else are Application Controlled or default.
Set graphics choices either in-game or with Realmware's editor.
If W10 had a new patch then maybe Nvidia needs to update their driver.
The BF4 performance graph is really jumpy. What is your ping?
Mine shows CPU and GPU nearly flat. My ping is usually around 33.
Are you using the 359.06 driver release?

I had a similar issue about a year ago. A couple of things you can try is:

Start-Run-dxdiag - make sure there are no issues in there under System and Display.

Go to Windows firewall in control panel, click on "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall" in upper left, scroll down to PnkBstrA, PnkBstrB, BF4, And Origin and check make sure Private, Public are both checked and Domain is NO.

Right click on desktop select nVidia Control Panel
"3D Settings" tab, click “Manage 3D Settings”. Program Settings. Drop down menu select BF4
Once you have BF4 selected in the drop down menu look for the Power management mode option and set it to Prefer maximum performance.

Ensure Origin is fully closed by clicking the Origin Menu and selecting Exit.
Delete the following folders.
hard drive ----\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\ -Origin folder -
hard drive ----\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\ -Origin folder -

Right click on origin and select run as admin.
Disable the Origin in-game overlay (IGO). To do this, launch the Origin client. Then go to the Origin menu, Application Settings, Origin In Game, and then uncheck "Enable Origin In Game
Also right click on Battlefield 4 and select Game Properties and make sure Disable Origin Ingame is CHECKED.
Right click on game and select repair

Run CCcleaner REGISTRY cleaner and clear all corrupted or out-of-date registries.

Perform a Clean Boot on your PC https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

That's really all I can think of. Doing most of this stuff helped me out with my problem. Good Luck!

This is what you should look like.

So the issue was two-fold the last win 10 update removed some apps I had without asking (including ccleaner) and it to me looked like it was corrupt. I just did a full on windows OS reinstall and re-downloading everything now. Hopefully that works. I had done everything above. Thank you

Shouldn't have to do that.... wow. Did BF4 cause that?

It was the latest Win 10 update the one with cortana, I did the update it looked like it installed ok, rebooted back into windows and then BF4 and it shit the bed in game.
