What are good certs to get, that can get you in the door?

A+, SEC+ and CCNA are pretty much the standard to be any kind of admin in the Army.

EC-Councel CEH or CNDA

COMP TIA Security+ or Network+

The CEH and CNDA are goverment certified official and are required for a lot of goverment cybersecurity jobs.

This is the one I hate. It's a money grab for CompTIA. In today's society its a useless test. It has knowledge requirements that you will never use. I have seen idiots that have pass it, entirely fuck up building a desktop PC. Guy actually questioned me the need for a heatsink... Yeah i mean sure my 386 didn't have one and my 486 didn't run paste but uh welcome to the real world. I think it was a better cert before Google was invented.

I have personally been thinking about getting my Network+ for giggles.

Most of all, hard work and experience.
I cant work hard if I cant get a job to get experience, I have a vagina I will need a wagon full of certs to get hired in anything IT related lol. but im not particularly familiar with what the current certs are that are worth a damn.

If you have some actual skills, I'd suggest working with start-ups, you learn a lot, will be able to put it on your CV and might even make big bucks.

Remember IT requirements is a catch 22. They want recent college graduates willing to work for low money and you need 15 years experience.

The best way to get into IT is to get a couple basics certs like network+ and Security+ then find a job posting as either a training position or new entry. After a couple of years you should have some knowledge and experience needed to get the better jobs. Unfortunately @RainMotorsports is correct its a catch 22. They always want recent grads or the elderly with a lot of experience. Although recently I have seen a lot of turnover in the IT world with a lot of younger people with no education getting into it. Cybersecurity is hot right now. If you learn to hack and get your CEH or CNDA then you can apply for a million jobs out there right now that want cyber security positions and the pay is great. The only problem with getting these jobs is that you need to know how to hack and then you need the EC-Counsel Certification for CEH or if for the government the CNDA.

I personally have the CNDA and I can tell you that it does take some knowledge and skills to get the certificate and its a whopping 2500 dollars just for training for the cert then another 250 for the test. Then you have to renew every 2-3 years.

all jobs right now want you to have 20+ years of experience and beg for a job that pays nothing all while spending 40k a year on health insurance that covers nothing. Also just in case you didn't hear it from your employers fuck you, you ungrateful waste of millennial lmao.

I am kinda pissed off the definition of millennial. I am 30. I know how to drive a Stick. Install OS/2 from a floppy disk. Recorded records from the library to tape. You name it, its bullshit. You can't group me with these 21 year olds that by the way half of have had the same experiences people at 30 now had. My roommate is 24 and pretty much experience all the same shit I did 6 years apart. Have to love the media :p

why cant we just say what it really is, some people just suck. They have always been around and will always be around. Has nothing to do with anything, some people are just a waste.
