Homefront - Honest Opinions Needed

RO: HOS is better than 2142 :). Does that count? :D.

It has yet to be seen; have you ever played Unreal Tournament 3; I've played both UT2004 & UT3 both are great games; I've played online & single player. You can play different game modes, one im particular is similar to titan mode of 2142. I play this with a bunch of former co-workers. I see steam has the whold pack for $40 bucks...great deal. The single player in UT2004 hooked me for a while.

I've played the alpha (GDC), and it's better than BF2142 and BF2; gameplay wise, and shear enjoyment factor.

Don't take my word for it, play the closed beta when it arrives in about 7 weeks. You'll probably have similar setaments.

The effects are pretty, Like Lex said there are points in the Single player that make you want to go out and lay the hurt on some people. But they touted the single player as something that your "judgment" would play a factor in who lives and who dies. Didn't happen. They also stated that your weapons would look more worn... this is true, However so do the weapons of EVERY OTHER NPC including the elite Koreans or the Marines... all weapons have frayed wires, extra external batteries, random names and numbers on them... It definitely feels rushed... Now on the multy player side, you cant dive to the ground while being shot at you have to come to a FULL stop and then press prone, You can shoot the same target in the same exact spot twice and miss it the first time but not the second, or vise versa. Hitting drones is hit or miss, as is from the hip shooting, I have been, and also have done, shot at from the hip(close range) even tho I have the drop on the guy with enough time to aim down the sights get good sight picture and loose 3-5 rounds and not hit anything while this guy fires like 2-3 rounds from the hip and tags me in the head. Some static objects have 'invisible" walls that extend beyond the object not allowing you to hit what your shooting at. Over all I'd give it a 6 out of 10. I will have to say I do enjoy the BC game mode. I get a feeling of accomplishment when the other team has to hunt me down cause I'm doing that good.

Just my 2 cents

THQ spent tons of money marketing the SP. I don't understand why they didn't market the MP more. It's obviously better than the SP by a long shot. Fucking hell man, this game is going to turn up like FFOW if they don't get their act together.

After playing for roughly 3 or 4 hours now I am still on the fence about purchasing this game. I only play these FPS games for the MP experience and from what I have seen so far I am concerned that as FAST pointed out, this game may very well go the way of Front Lines.

The story is why I was interested in the game in the first place. It's disappointing IMO. TBH I thought they would develop it more like Fallout and less like MW2. I also didn't get why enemies seemingly randomly dropped weapons. Why were Korean troops (or drafted Americans) using M16's and M4's? Wouldn't it make more sense for them to use the GKR weapons? Regardless, the most enjoyment (and least frustration) I got out of the game was reading newsclips.

That's hard to say..... The SP had some strong points, and was enjoyable, but poor in quality.

The MP, I played this evening, was not that great, in fact it blew pretty bad. However I did like the drones and the gadgets that we haven't seen before, like the UAV with missile strikes, gun drone etc. The hit reg was good, but the game play got old after about 10 minutes of playing.

Bottom line:
It doesn't offer the shear gore, and chaos that BF does, BC2 didn't have a whole lot of cool shit tech shit, but it was better put together than HF was IMO. HF has a ton of potential, neat tech, but has absolute shit game play. It looks very very rushed, and has an obvious COD feel, from the server browser to the game lobby, the perks etc.

I don't think we are going to see another game like the BF2 or 2142 for a very very very long time, if not at all.

South Korea trains and utilizes some of the same weapon systems we have. It's also 2025 in a video game, and AK-47's are kinda over done.

I agree, but according to the game's backstory, NK & SK were reunited like 10 years prior to the game. AK-47's are overdone, but the game introduced a few "GKR" weapons.

Well, again, I've played RO: HOS, and it bests BF2/2142 by far. I don't know how else to represent that without you trying it for yourself :).

Korean troops are using US weapons because HF was a book first and in the book Korea invaded the US and after dismantling the defenses took hold of US military bases and began using US weapons and tech. against Americans.

BTW, the books was lame.

After playing it various times for several hours now I am going to have to take a pass on this one. : (

I picked up Dragon Age 2 instead. My buddy picked up Homefront so I'll check it out next weekend when I visit him to see if I like it or not.
