Found this in my mobo manual. Pretty fuckin neat if you ask me. Calculates everything for your new build and tells you what size PSU you should buy.

kinda cool. my recommended is 750w right now. im only running 1 graphics card. the old recommended was 1250!!! i think thats a bit high cus i ran fine with 1100

I found that thing inconsistent, then again I dont have a super computer either, just a AMD Athlon 64 X2 with a 9600 Video, could use 8800GTS if I wanted, and it was only calculating 250W, the video cards alone require at least 350W. 8800GTS might require more.

They over-recommend PSU's (to avoid customer service disasters), but in reality most mainstream computers pull about 300W, if not less, at full load.

Also, there's a lot of shitty PSUs which advertise wattages which they either don't reach, or reach with voltage distortions and noise which cause all kinds of problems.
