Well, my brand new EVGA 1000w Supernova PSU is officially toast....burnt toast at that. Last night it made a bzzzt sound and shut my system down. I turned power back on to it and got another bzzt sound and the smell of fried electronics. I just hope it did not fry my motherboard or gpu at the same time.

EVGA was great, of course, about sending out a replacement already but that didn't exactly fill me with confidence. I run a single gpu, my cpu was not overclocked so other than the pump and extra fans for the watercooling, it wasn't exactly under a stressful load.

Anyway, I won't be on gaming for a day or so.

why go EVGA with a PSU? the cooler companies make them much more suited for your needs IMO...

It's a Superflower leadex platform, 10 year warranty and I like the ribboned cables.

Besides, I've had the same thing happen with Seasonic, so it's not like this is unique to any one company.

Sorry to hear that Six. If it makes you feel better. My monitors PSU blew up on me a week ago. Now I have to play on a 19" :( Just ant the same.
You'll be back up in no time big guy.

Yeah, I've still got a spare Enermax PSU at home, just don't feel like installing it right now. It sucks but that's what the warranty is for. I just wasn't happy with the burnt smell, I never like that with electronics.

i found you a new power source sixer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perfect! I knew Zappy did something for money besides whore for cock. Nice find!

shitty deal for something only a couple months old. Sounds like a bad capacitor, are they doing the cross ship?

My thoughts, exactly. Yeah, they're doing a cross ship so no worries there. They did the RMA while I was on the phone with them, took about 5 minutes all said and done.

Have you checked your place's AC power? If you've killed two high-quality PSUs, you might have a problem with an out-of-spec AC line or are using, for example, an insufficient or poorly made power cable. (Not to say you need to spend $20+ on one, but try a different one.)

Nah, you misunderstand. Two different state, GA and TX, and years apart for those PSUs. Every once in a while, though it's rare, you get a faulty one. Like the t-shirt says, shit happens.

Alright. Just working on an assumption. I'd still take a basic power tester to your outlet of choice & replace the surge protector. Could be random shit, could be shit in shit out.

No surge protector used, I have a 900w UPS. Also, that outlet ran my Enermax psu fine for a year prior to this so I have no worries about it since it's never been a problem. The UPS is in good working order, everything else is plugged into it, the monitor, the light on my desk, and the router-all of which are working without any problems.

I appreciate the thought, but I doubt the outlet is the problem.

It's probably those cheap porn sites. All that lag overworking your CPU.

Also, that outlet ran my man love toys fine for a year prior to this (and you know how I abuse those) so I have no worries about it since it's never been a problem. Fixed
