MB took a dump

My MB took a dump on me today. The bios chip is faulty and I'm tired of fucking around with this thing so I'm going to get a new MB. I'll probably end up getting the ASUS Rampage III Formula but I'm undecided if I'll spend the extra $ to pick it up tomorrow or wait for a delivery. It's only $45.00 more if I pick one up tomorrow at Microcenter versus having one next day shipped from Amazon. Either way, I'll be MIA until I get this system rebuilt.

just asking, what is going on with your board? Computers are great when they run; but, can be a pain in the ass when they don't.

It won't even load to bios, all I get is, occasionally...like very twentieth time I start it-an error message saying CMOS error. I've gotten it to load to the bios twice tonight and then it just restarts, all fans, lights, etc. without even booting to the bios and no signal to the monitor. It did this before and I had the bios chip replaced, but I'm not waiting for that again or for the cost. As long as I'm spending money I'll just get a new MB.

What was your old MB. I'm no computer guy but did you try jumping the CMOS then putting the bios back to default? My abit did that to me all the time.

P.S. Good Luck

yea what sid said. try just resetting the bios back to factory settings and see what happens. i had mine do that to me before

Guys, it doesn't work. Thanks for the input, but I've tried that a million times already. Every time I do that I get the same result-load to bios & corrupt CMOS error message. I wish it was that easy.

Sorry - one more

CMOS power issue(can't get past CMOS) = try changing your battery - if you haven't

Yup, did that too with two different batteries just to be sure.

Just an FYI-the CMOS battery is the same one I use for my glucometer, so I always have extras lying around which makes it an easy thing to check. I'm with you though, ARturo-fuck is right.

Have you compared the latest Gigabyte board to the Asus yet? Might be something to consider.

Yeah, I saw that one, and the reviews on it but I still like the Asus rampage better. We'll see how it goes. I've already ordered it and it will be here tomorrow.

Eh, I ordered the Asus Rampage Formula and it'll be here tomorrow so I'll probably be on tomorrow evening as long as I get the OS installed okay...don't ask it's a long story and lots of calls to Microsoft over something that shouldn't even be an issue. ugh.

Anyway, hopefully I'll see you guys tomorrow night.

Edit: this is the new MB

In the same boat six, I have to strip my rig down and start over tomorrow. All my stuff will finally be here. It's frustrating but well both have better stuff than before. I've been dealing with a bad MB for six months.

Yeah, that sucks ass. I had problems all week and couldn't figure out what the deal was until it finally and suddenly went Poof! Oh well, like you said we'll have better stuff and be up and running tomorrow. Oh, I also just got a new 120hz LCD yesterday that I never got to use! I blame Chuck for this since I saw his 24" in a higher resolution I couldn't go back to my 22" with 1680x1050 resolution. Damn you Chuck!

Anyway, this is the monitor though I'm sure you've all seen this before: Newegg.com - Acer GD235HZbid Black/orange 23.6" 2ms Widescreen 1080p 120Hz NVIDIA 3D Vision LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 80000:1
